Dotish drivers

Pull switch on 'blue light' drivers

I have noticed a rather disturbing trend that the police seem yet to address.

I do not know how much it extends beyond the western areas and Port
of Spain, but the Police Commissioner, his traffic chief and the police
generally cannot tell me they are unaware of the situation where many
motorists now have dim blue lights or other multi-coloured fancy lights
in the headlight assemblies of their cars. They use these at nights
instead of the regular headlights.

This is somewhat like the trend where drivers would switch their
headlights off while driving at nights and use their hazard lights
instead.

The new practice of using these blue, red and other lights includes
having white lights flashing from the headlight assemblies - lights
which serve no purpose other than to distract oncoming motorists who
cannot see these vehicles in the dark until it is almost too late.

This trend calls for urgent action by the entire police service.
