Murder case in jeopardy after cop molests accused

BY
RADHICA SOOKRAJ - Trinidad Guardian

A high-profile murder case being investigated by Arouca
Homicide Bureau is in jeopardy, after an officer at Arouca
Police Station allegedly molested a suspect in the station.

The incident occurred last Wednesday, but up to Friday the
accused molester was still on duty.

Police sources said the murder accused was brought into
the station to be questioned.

However, while in custody, the officer allegedly went to
the cell and began making sexual advances to the murder
accused. He told the murder accused that he would help him
if he allowed him to have sex with him.

Homicide officers were forced to release the murder accused
because of the sexual assault, and the man reportedly returned
to the police station with his attorney.

Police said an official complaint was lodged at the Arouca
Homicide Bureau by the attorney of the murder accused. Based
on the complaint, the accused said he was subjected to humiliation.

A file on the incident has been submitted to senior officers.

Sources said the accused officer had been reported several
times in connection with other sexual allegations, and that
he had been taunted by his colleagues because of his sexual
preference.

Police sources said although several complaints were lodged
about the officer, senior officers turned a blind eye to
his sexual misconduct.

Investigations are continuing.

Once again the TT Police have screwed up a murder case. Why d fock these baboons cyah think of anything besides bulling man in dey bamsee? Fock man!

Schoolboys held for ganja ...weed for end-of-term party

TEENAGE boys who tried taking marijuana to their
school's end-of-term party were caught by MTS guards and arrested by
police on Tuesday.

Both were charged with drug trafficking.

The boys, aged 15 and 16, from Gran Couva and Orangefield, Central Trinidad, are pupils of the Waterloo High School.

They tried getting past the guard at 11 a.m., but were searched because they were acting suspiciously and were late for classes.

That night, a Justice of the Peace allowed the boys to go home after
their parents signed bonds to ensure they appeared in court. The boys
appeared before Chaguanas First Court Senior Magistrate Nanette
Forde-John yesterday.

They were not asked to plead since the charges are indictable.

The cases were adjourned to April 17.

Rape during interview: accused in court

A man who allegedly raped a woman after luring
her to his home with the promise of a job appeared in court yesterday,
charged with two counts of sexual assault.

Cuffie Dillon, of Cocoyea, San Fernando, was granted $150,000 bail by Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington.

Last Monday, a 35-year-old Fyzabad woman reported to police that she
answered an employment advertisement and went to a house in Cocoyea
where she was interviewed and then raped.

Dillon was represented yesterday by attorney Steadson Jack. He was ordered to reappear in court on July 30.

Also appearing in the San
Fernando First Magistrate's Court yesterday, was a 62-year-old man
charged with the grievous sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl at a
house in San Fernando on Saturday.

The man was told he would be allowed out of prison if he posted
$45,000 bail or paid a $20,000 cash bond. His case was adjourned to
next Thursday.

Organized Security

The PNM is useless. A government that cannot protect its citizens is a government that should not exist. The citizens have to defend themselves. How can we organize our own group?? Use the link below to enter the forum.

Carnival and Crime

Carnival 2K8 has come and gone but not without a long list of casualties. Now besides the murders, which we could call non-Carnival related as this is now the norm in T&T, there were quite a number (at least 200) of stabbings which took place during the season. Now we're talking at least 200 stabbings that took place during the Carnival Season and I'm sure there were probably a hundred more that weren't reported. Our Commissioner of Police, Trevor Poodle *cough* I mean Paul, in his great wisdom, comes on National television and states that Carnival 2K8 was "incident free". Now I don't know what brand of weed this guy is smoking, but I seriously think he should stop. How could 200 stabbings during the Carnival season, plus the 8 or so homicides, add up to an incident free Carnival season? Somebody please explain this to me.

I came across an article that somewhat expresses my thoughts.
