Carnival and Crime
Carnival 2K8 has come and gone but not without a long list of casualties. Now besides the murders, which we could call non-Carnival related as this is now the norm in T&T, there were quite a number (at least 200) of stabbings which took place during the season. Now we're talking at least 200 stabbings that took place during the Carnival Season and I'm sure there were probably a hundred more that weren't reported. Our Commissioner of Police, Trevor Poodle *cough* I mean Paul, in his great wisdom, comes on National television and states that Carnival 2K8 was "incident free". Now I don't know what brand of weed this guy is smoking, but I seriously think he should stop. How could 200 stabbings during the Carnival season, plus the 8 or so homicides, add up to an incident free Carnival season? Somebody please explain this to me.
I came across an article that somewhat expresses my thoughts.
What's a violent act Mr Paul?
Did any of the big buildings get injured during
Carnival? Of course not! Were there any bombings in the streets of Port
of Spain? Again, thankfully, there were none. Was any person
decapitated on Carnival Monday and Tuesday or blown to bits? Probably
not.
However, a lot of stuff do go undetected and unreported. I heard of
no reports of human torture during Carnival, just those annoying petty
stabbing incidents that hospitals dealt with during festivities. Then
again, my definition of torture maybe skewed.
Until now, we did not know that Police Commissioner Paul viewed
stabbing as a "non-serious" violent act. I wonder how the Commissioner
views shootings, rape, kidnappings and child abuse? All of these acts
may have taken place during the Carnival days but went unreported. I
think driving like a maniac and inadvertently maiming or slaughtering
man or animal is a "serious" violent act, the Commissioner presumably
has struck off his list of "serious" violent acts.
If the man on top can't define "serious" violence correctly what's he still doing directing at the helm?

Is Trevor Paul a lunatic? Or maybe he's an imbicile? Whatever you decide to call him, I think he should be thrown in jail for misleading the public and he should be fired for doing such a piss poor job.
When shit like this continues to happen, it doesn't surprise me, because PNM is ruling the country. This sort of shit is the norm for the PNM.
